April: Azaleas

The show begins!

This is the month when azaleas begin to put on their yearly show. If you are planning on installing new azaleas in your yard, come in to Betty's while they are blooming to pick the variety you like best. If you are trying to match an existing azalea, bring in a branch with a bloom on it. We will help you match your plant to the same variety here at Betty's.
If planting new azaleas, be sure to amend the existing soil with Clay Cutter when planting. Feed with slow-release, granular food like Agriform. Monitor water needs the first year. Almost all short-term deaths are due to lack of water.

Watering Information

Water new plantings slowly and deeply every two or three days when the weather is warm. Hand watering is preferable to sprinklers.
